Schedule 2012 Preliminary

Trip #1 June 15-20 (6 days)
For the first trip we will trailhead out of the Aspen Grove on Alkali Creek.  The first days ride will take us to the upper fork of the East Fork of the Wind River.  A layover day may be spent looking for an old Sheepeater Indian trap or just lazing around camp soaking up the spectacular view. The next day we will pack up and move over Teepee creek pass to the mouth of Blue Creek. A small and delicious spring will furnish our water in this sheltered camp; we may explore the East shoulder of Mount Kent.  The last days ride will take us through Bear Basin to our exit trailhead.

Trip #2 June 25-July 3 (9 days) call
This trip will depart from Wayne's Hole heading to the ridge North. We will take an ancient, seldom used trail around the base of Castle Rock and drop into the rarely visited South Fork of Teepee Creek.  Camping at the head of Teepee Creek will allow us to explore the surrounding ridges and should offer superb wildlife viewing.  We will then descend into the Bear Creek Canyon and ride upstream to the West Fork of Bear Creek and make camp in the vast meadows there.  The next few days we can summit Mount Wiggins, ride over Bear Pass and enjoy the wildflowers.  Our next ride will be over Nine Mile Pass into the East Fork we will camp in the upper East Fork Meadows.  From the East Fork Meadows we will ride down the East Fork to our Trailhead.

Trip #3 July5-13 (9 days) call
This pack-trip will pack north out of the East Fork trailhead and camp in meadows on the West Fork of the East Fork. A layover day will allow us to either fish the East fork or hike/ride the high country. We will then move into the head of Bear Creek camping in high and beautiful mountain meadows. A layover day from this camp will allow us to ride, or hike up Wiggins Peak at 12,176 feet. We will then ride over the Absaroka Trail into Black Canyon. We will camp on Wiggins fork our last nights and finish the trip at Double Cabin.

Trip #4 July 15-23(9 days) 8 spaces left
This trip will visit areas that are remote even by our standards.  The riding will be challenging. We will be crossing high ridges on Elk trails.  Our camps will be in the, Wiggins, Burwell, Sheep, and Emerald drainages.  We will make a big loop returning to our corral at Double Cabin.

Trip # 5 July 25-29 (5 days) 8 spaces left
On this trip we will ride up Caldwell Canyon to the beginning of Brown Canyon, a day there will allow some magnificent hiking and maybe Bighorn Sheep viewing. Then we will enter Brown Canyon and ride a rarely used trail into Black Canyon. If there is enough grass we will camp in a canyon Press calls Mars Canyon, If not we will proceed into the upper Wiggins Fork Meadows spending a few days there riding the dramatic ridges that form the Continental Divide there. The trip will end at our Double Cabin corral.

Trip #6 August 1-7 (7 days) 6 spaces left
This pack-trip will ride from the Double Cabin trailhead up Frontier Creek to the head of the south fork of Cougar Creek. We will move over Cougar Pass and camp in Secret Basin. After a layover day we will move over Pierpont Pass and down Clark Creek to Bliss Creek Meadows on the South Fork of the Shoshone River. Another layover day will allow good fishing and hiking. The last camp above Shoshone Pass will allow us to ride down the Dunoir River on the last day and end the trip at Wolf Creek trailhead.

Trip #7 August 9-15 (7 days) 8 spaces left
This trip will pack out of the wolf creek trailhead, go into the West fork of the Dunoir Valley to the Dundee Meadows. The Dundee meadows offer exciting trout fishing in the creek and possibly a view of monster moose at dusk. We will then ride over Bowles Pass to the head of the East Fork of the Dunoir where we can fish a hidden lake for Golden Trout or explore the glacier on Coffin Butte.  We will ride down the Buffalo River, over Bear Cub Pass and end the trip at the dramatic Brooks Lake.

Trip #8 August 17-23(7 days) 8 spaces left
For this pack trip we will be in the Wind River Mountain Range. We will ride the first day up the Glacier trail and camp at Phillips Lake. This positions us perfectly for fishing Double Lake the next day. Members of the group that do not wish to fish can day hike for a swim in Slide Lake, or ride up the ridge above it. The next ride will be to the Dinwoody Valley where we will camp in the shadows of Wyoming’s highest peak Gannet.  Fishermen will enjoy the Inkwells. Then we will ride to the head of Red Creek camp and return to our trailhead.
